Would a convert to the Catholic faith go straight to heaven if he dies right after baptism?
June 17th, 2009Say if someone converts to the catholic faith and gets baptized, then dies right after his baptism, would he go straight to heaven?
Yes, baptism cleanses us of original sin and all personal sin and the punishment due to those sins.

Yeah, but the priest that drowned him is in big trouble.

Assuming Catholicism is the 'proper' religion, that seems sane to me.
Why not just drown him during the baptism to ensure that he doesn't have a chance to sin.

baptism is a work and works will NOT save you.
only faith in Christ as your Lord and savior will save you.
ye must be born again!

Lo! those who say: Our Lord is Allah, and afterward are upright, the angels descend upon them, saying: Fear not nor grieve, but hear good tidings of the paradise which ye are promised.ch;41
A similitude of the Garden which is promised unto those who keep their duty (to Allah): Underneath it rivers flow; its food is everlasting, and its shade; this is the reward of those who keep their duty, while the reward of disbelievers is the Fire.ch;13 v-35
here is the crystal clear definition for paradise.what ever your name may be if you beleive in Allah without associating any one and beleive in the Prophet Jesus (pbuh)as a messenger and did not claim divinity and beleive in the final messenger Prophet Muhammed(pbuh) and the holy quran and the way of the Prophet Muhammed (pbuh)then you can
God willing you will enter paradise.

I'm a Catholic but not an extremist(like I don't agree with the Pope most of the time). I'm 47 and I'm from Canada. But yes, you would go to heaven. However if you're a good person, I can't see why you wouldn't go to heaven if you don't make it to your baptism. I have three kids, I go to Church every Sunday, used to go every day before I had the kids. Just so you know I'm not a terrible person. Our Priest is in his late 70's and he's great. What I'm saying is that although I'm really happy you want to be a Catholic, other people will be saved. I'm a mother and would never want anything bad for my children even if they would do something terrible and I'm just a human being. God is our Father to all of us and He's Perfect, does it make sense that He would want something terrible for us(especially if we believe)?
