pick one word to describe the Catholic faith?
June 14th, 2009if you had to only ONE word to describe the catholic faith, what would it be and why?
Lost…..
The Catholic Faith has changed so much since their separation from Orthodoxy in 1054. They have made changes to best suit their needs rather than staying the course that Jesus set for all Christians. The Orthodox Faith has not made changes in over 2000+ years since the time of the Apostles on the Day Of Pentecost. If and when changes were ever made, All the Bishops of all the churches (Who were equal in stature to eachother) got together (Ecumenical Councils) and discussed and prayed on the issues at hand and with the guidance of the Holy Spirit decisions were made. The Catholic Bishop (Not Pope) wanted to put himself above all other Bishops and make the final decisions thus causing the beginning of the Great Schism of 1054..

because no matter who tried or tries to shut her down - it won't happen. no matter what problems arise, she continues forward. no matter how "easy" people want things - she stays strong to the end so that WE stay on the right path - the path of Christ.

Well, I'd have to choose "catholic".
Christian describes several faiths, not just he Catholic.
Of course, "catholic" also describes several faiths, but normally it is associated with Roman Catholicism. For a single word description, "catholic" comes pretty close to describing the Roman Catholic Church in a way that differentiates it from most others.
Probably the *most* uniquely descriptive is "papal", but that is
a) not exactly accurate
b) prone to criticism
